The Llywydd welcomed Members to the meeting. Apologies were received from David Rees MS.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were
agreed for publication.
Tuesday
There are no changes to Tuesday’s business.
Wednesday
The Business Committee agreed to make the following changes to Wednesday’s business:
Business Managers agreed to move the Short Debate prior to Closing statements and to reduce the time allocated to 15 minutes on the basis that a detailed response is not required.
The Business Committee considered an update from the Trefnydd and agreed to:
The Business Committee noted the paper and the proposed revision to the Guidance that will be made by the Llywydd prior to the end of the Sixth Senedd.
The Business Committee considered and agreed proposed revisions to the Guidance on Virtual and Hybrid Proceedings, which introduce an expectation that Members will choose a single mode of attendance (in-person or virtual) for a given Plenary meeting, and noted that the amended Guidance will be published by the Llywydd prior to the end of the Sixth Senedd.
Memberships of UK-EU networks in the 7th Senedd
The Llywydd reflected with Business Managers on the role that the Business Committee had played in coordinating and agreeing Senedd nominations to the membership of three key European bodies in the Sixth Senedd, noting that the Business Committee in the Seventh Senedd should continue to play a role in agreeing nominations to such bodies.
The Llywydd noted the importance of Members who are selected to represent the Senedd externally are given the proper time to fulfil these roles by party groups and are committed to playing a full part in the work of these bodies once appointed.
Closing Remarks
The Llywydd thanked Business Managers for their contributions to the work of the Business Committee and paid tribute to the Trefnydd for the dedicated and co-operative manner in which she has performed her role on the Business Committee over her long period of service to the Welsh Government and the Senedd.
The Trefnydd put on record her thanks to the Llywydd for her leadership as the Chair of the Business Committee over the last 10 years. The Trefnydd thanked the other Business Managers for the collaborative and positive way they have all worked together on the Committee. The Trefnydd and Business Managers thanked Senedd and Welsh Government officials for the support provided to the Business Committee during the Sixth Senedd.
